Our friend Hans introduced us to the Schenectady farmers’ market on a recent shopping trip to Jay Street, and I was ecstatic to find a vendor there selling local wheat flour! No convincing required, I bought two, two pound bags. One was a hard red spring wheat, the other a winter white wheat. I’ve worked with wheat flours before, including local wheat and other varieties that had...
After a way-more-than-prosperous holiday season (in terms of consignment sales…I made a buttload of money!), I’m back to the drawing board, making more stuff to sell in local shops. Wish me luck! I don’t know if my hands are up to the job. One day at a time…
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, this gorgeous wool felt came from BenzieBazaar at Etsy.
My co-pilot.
Everyone calls him a mama’s boy, but he’s more like my partner in crime.
We’re all hooked. I don’t think any of us can imagine what this house would be like without him, Olive included. Even our vet wanted to steal him. He’s just so cool.

Sorry for the random photo posts...
Wow. That’s about all I can come up with to say about this movie. Here’s what someone over at IMDB had to say about it:
Three teenagers are confined to an isolated country estate that could very well be on another planet. The trio spend their days listening to endless homemade tapes that teach them a whole new vocabulary. Any word that comes from beyond their family abode is...
I recently re-potted my little ladies here, upgrading them from cheesy plastic pots to overpriced terracotta ones, and they’re already growing larger by the day.
I’m ashamed to admit how root bound they all were, but it feels good to know that they’re much happier and healthier now.
We certainly love having them here.
speaking of need vs want
I can’t differentiate.
Technically I need a coat.
I don’t necessarily want a coat.
I haven’t worn a coat since I was twelve.
I get cold with the slightest bit of effort now that I’m old.
So I guess that would put this in the need category, not necessarily the want one.
This one sure is pretty.
Can you tell we’re having a snow day and I’ve been on Etsy...

sparrow flour sack towelby vintagejunkystyle
After a good solid hour of drooling, I had to force myself to walk away from Etsy and my search for tea towels. Tea towels, yes. I never thought there could possibly be so many options out there, but despite my hour-long search, there were at least another two hours worth of searching left to do. I would love to own every single one of these,...
for the dogs
I’m trying my darndest to keep from making this blog all about my dogs, especially since Emmet’s arrival, but I wanted to share this recipe for homemade dog food with you. I toyed around with the idea of making Olive’s food from scratch for a while, not only because of the myriad of health problems she suffers from (allergies, skin irritations, ear infections, digestive...
ch-ch-ch-changes
So, I drink coffee now.
This might come as a big surprise to those of you who have known me for a while. For as long as I can remember, the smell of coffee brewing, or even just steaming in a cup, gave me headaches and sinus pain that I can only compare to the aches and pains of a mild migraine. Weird, right? I used to hide in bed in the mornings as a kid when my mom would hit the...
the morning after the night before
We got a bit of snow. A bit more than a bit, really, but it’s the light, fluffy stuff so I don’t mind. As much as I loathe shoveling and I’m about as lazy as they come, there’s something incredibly soothing about shoveling at night in the snowy quiet. I couldn’t get over how peaceful the neighborhood was, despite the occasional scraping sound of someone shoveling...
long, crappy day
Today is one for the books, that’s for sure. I’m beat. So beat, in fact, that this is the only post I can come up with. One good thing, though, is finding out that Emmet is in good health after his first visit with the vet. He’s waaaaaay underweight, come to find out, and needs some plumping up. Imagine that…underweight. In my house. Hmmmm.
where I've been
So let’s see…
I’ve been absent since roughly mid to late September, eh? I’ve had lots to do. In no particular order (because my brain is just, uh, gone), here’s what I’ve been up to:
1. Making stuff. I have goods for sale in several stores, and keeping up with the demand, especially around the holidays has been tough. Did a few craft fairs, met a few...

workin' on it / little man
I’m currently working on the code to allow comments on this new blog of mine, but seeing as how I know NOTHING about writing code, this seems to be all about trial and error. A lot of error. I think I may have it fixed, though, so let me know if you’re still having problems. And if you know of an easy fix that will save me a lot of time and headaches, please feel free to fill me...
well, well, well
So, I’m back.
Toyed around with the idea of bailing on the blog completely, but I missed it, and based on the number of questions I received over whether or not I planned to continue, I realized that I probably should indeed keep plugging away. You guys must like me or something! Thanks!
After being gone so long I decided to take the opportunity to start a new blog over here because...
