Yup.  It’s that time again.  However this is officially my last year filing for the brick and mortar shop, so I’m keeping an optimistic look on this whole deal.  I just keep telling myself that it will all be over soon…

A few things: 1. We obviously didn’t win the Mega Millions.  However, someone (a few people split the ticket, actually) a couple of small towns away from us cashed in.  319 million smackers.  Imagine that.  I like to think that fate simply couldn’t locate us on Thursday night in this big old world of ours, because, as you know, we were supposed to be the real winners.  But there I...

Are you familiar with the Curious Pebble Project? I love what this woman is doing. She hand picks gorgeous tumbled rocks from the beach, whips up little tatted covers for them in a variety of different colored threads, and then returns them to the beach for random strangers to notice/pick up.  I love that. Anyway, Julianna offered up a deal to help the victims of the earthquake/tsunami in...

Faddegon’s is getting their shipment of hellebores in just in time for the weekend.  I want to go and check them out!  Anyone interested? I’ve always loved them but so far have NONE in the gardens, and that’s never a good thing. Above photo from here.

I feel like luck was on my side over these last few days, especially when it came to free, or next to free finds.  I got this amazing chair from Sandra over at Rust and Reason, and to say that I got it for a steal would be a drastic understatement.  She cut me an amazing deal, and it fits perfectly in my living room.  I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it, and the upholstery is...

super moon, take two.  couldn’t get a decent shot to save my life using two different tripods, so I went with the old-fashioned method of propping my camera on a rock. I promise this will be my last moon shot for a while.  you have my word.

Dude, I am so happy for my friend Bianca (aka B-Side Blaze, aka #45), after witnessing the miraculous ending to tonight’s roller derby extravaganza.  Bianca saved the day.  There’s no other way to put it. Picture this: Thirty seconds left in the final period, score is tied 70-70, and Bianca is facing off against a girl who has dominated everyone throughout the entire evening.  She...

Last night’s moon, which I’m sure will pale in comparison to tonight’s moon.

We were on the front porch this afternoon enjoying the pre-spring sunlight when several honeybees flew in to check things out! I love the fact that wherever they’re setting up shop is at least close to us (probably in the woods to our right), and more importantly, close to my gardens. I just hope that something like this doesn’t happen again.  Frightening and fascinating.  But more...

We played the MegaMillions last night and lost.  Shocker. Every time we buy a lottery ticket (rarely), I first remind myself of the odds of winning and then fantasize about what I’d do with my riches if we won. I’d give a lot of it away, do some major renovations on our house (both the necessary ones and the ones that would turn a home that I already love into my dream home),...

My friend Gary is really interested in carnivorous plants lately.  I love them too, but aside from a botched attempt at growing Venus Flytraps as a kid, I have yet to try again.  All of Gary’s meat-eating-plant-talk as of late has sparked a bit of curiosity in me, and the gears in my brain are grinding trying to process all of the information I’ve absorbed over the last week or so. ...

Yesterday I was actually able to see my lawn(!) and even pointed out (to anyone who would pay attention) the beginning of what will be tulips poking out through the dirt. Aaaaaaaand, today we’re covered in snow and ice.  Again.  So sad.

Can’t. Stop. Making. Terrariums. They’re popping up all over the house.  I can’t tell if Ben’s annoyed yet.  I had been eyeballing a patch of moss peeking out from underneath the mountain of snow in our yard, and have finally removed it and placed it under glass.  Or in glass.  Whatever. I was worried that this little patch of green would succumb to the shock of moving...

Somebody lost his front puppy teeth on both the top and bottom jaw.  The tongue is having a hard time staying inside its mouth.
