Okay, I’m officially nuts. After filling the raised beds with dirt, compost and humus, hitting up the Schenectady farmers’ market (for the first time…very nice!  We missed the Troy market on Saturday because we were busy scoping out six tag/estate sales…no decent finds there) for tomato, veggie and herb plants, shopping for more compost and humus, amending the soil, and...

I need a truckload of topsoil (3 yards) and a truckload of pea gravel (3 yards) delivered to my house pronto!  We finished building the beds last night and FAR underestimated how much dirt we’d need.  AND, we have another project of the patio-building variety planned. Anyone in the area know of a decent company to go with, or know of anyone looking to get rid of some dirt and rock? ...

I got a head start on the thrifting this morning, a day earlier than I expected.  My mom informed me that one of her neighbors was hosting a tag sale for one of the local churches, and that it was imperative to get there early because this woman is well known for having some great buys.  So we headed out there to check things out.  There were a few amazing finds buried in piles and piles of...

It’s sad that eight years into our relationship and 35 years into our lives, Ben and I have found the need to book time to spend together.  I never thought I’d see this day, but it’s here.  My husband works harder than anyone else I know and it’s incredibly difficult for him to relax, especially when his precious few hours at home are spent in his office…working. ...

I’m waiting patiently for the UPS or FedEx dude to show up any second now. I’m a little late in my garden supply ordering this year, I know, but with all of the rain and miserable, chilly days (and cold nights!) we’ve been trudging through, I just haven’t had the opportunity to get outside and get things moving.  Still, I know I’m starting to get close to missing...

One down.  I love it.  Gonna have to head back to Joann and fish through the discount bin again.  I only used half of the fabric I purchased for this project, so this makes it a $3 skirt.

A few things today: Firstly, I have the greatest husband in the world.  His overall awesomeness has been proven yet again because he bought me the shoes I’ve been ogling since I first spotted them over at Flickr.  Seriously, he’s the best. Secondly, I went out for a bit with my mom today where I managed to score two yards of this fantastic fabric for $6.  We’ve been...

My first attempt at wire wrapping: Back in December I had purchased the admission for my mother (and myself) to a local wire wrapping class as a birthday gift for her.  She had expressed an interest a few times in learning how the process works and I’m always up for a class, so there you go. Anyway, the class was cancelled over the winter and rescheduled for this weekend.  It was fun,...

2012 can’t get here fast enough. Can’t believe I’ll be voting for a Republican (I always vote third party), but aside from his abortion stance, this man is A-OK in my book.  One can dream, right?

Emily got some awful news about her dog/son Denver recently, and I feel so terrible for her.  I wish there was something I could do to make it all better. Please keep the two of them in your prayers and hope for the best possible results with the second ultrasound.  So sad.

Emmet had a long day at the vet’s office yesterday.  And I, as his (sorta) mom, had an even longer one.  It’s a good thing I didn’t have kids because the amount of worry that rocked my boat yesterday felt like it could have killed me. Neutering, cherry eye removal, Lyme disease prevention shot and a heartworm test. He was such a sad little pitiful case when we took him home...
