Now November just needs to get here already.
I’m realizing now that there are so many things on my “To Blog” list and I’m falling really far behind. For months I’ve been promising photos of the deck we built months ago and it still hasn’t happened. I haven’t forgotten. It’ll happen.
For now, though, I’m sharing the wonderful things I purchased at the recent Gem and Mineral show in...
Hurricane Irene hasn’t even hit us yet and I’m already over it, sick of hearing about it (you’d think NOTHING else in the world is going on right now aside from this storm, based on the ridiculous amount of coverage on all the major news stations) and completely ready for it to be over.
I’m dreading the arrival of this thing and dreading bailing water out of my basement...
Made:
* A lemon meringue tart for my grandfather’s birthday.
He asked for it, and I couldn’t just make any old lemon meringue pie. He’s The Man for crying out loud. So I’m giving him a walnut and brown sugar crust filled with Meyer lemon curd and homemade meringue on top. I’m sad to see this one go. Maybe he’ll share a piece with me. Maybe.
Anyway, I...
I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately, folks, and rather than bitching and moaning here about it, I’m keeping quiet. It’s for the best. Really. Everything is really bumming me out a lot and no matter what I do it just doesn’t seem to help. Between personal problems, the current state of the world, the general ignorance of people and society as a whole, my desire to...
Oh my god…I can’t believe it.
I’ve been following this case for years now and it’s finally over.
This is the best news I’ve heard in a while.
::yesterday’s harvest::
you might think this is a great thing, but there are just as many, if not more, out there and ready to pick today. Help!!!
Republican Presidential Debate.
Yes, I watched it. My thoughts?
Michelle Bachmann is bat shit crazy.
Mitt Romney is certifiably crazy.
Newt Gingrich is just plain crazy.
Herman Cain is booooooring. And crazy.
Who cares about Jon Huntsman and Tim Pawlenty.
Rick Santorum is the devil.
Ron Paul is an angel. I love this man. If we’re lucky enough to have a man like him in office, I...
…just a little inspiration…
Livingston Taylor’s tiny cottage near the sea.
Super cute, great location.
I’d still prefer one of these, though.

If you could choose any option from this selection of stain colors, which color would you choose for your deck? I personally am leaning toward Beachwood or Harbor Green, but they honestly all look good to me. The winning color will then determine what color we paint the shed, something complementary. Help!!!
Ugh, this was one of those weird and cruel moments in nature where I felt compelled to step in and help out, but instead opted to leave things be, trusting that Mother Nature knows what the hell she’s doing. Or at least I hoped that was the case.
While walking around in the veggie garden yesterday afternoon I noticed this bizarre scenario and immediately came inside to the googles to...
Okay so I’ve been in tears for the last half hour over this movie:
This will easily go down in my top 10 ever.
The plot, the acting, the sets, the costume (oh! the costume!) the cinematography. All stunning, beautiful and absolutely haunting. I couldn’t possibly recommend this movie any more. Just be sure to grab some Kleenex.
You know you’re getting old when the current highlight of your life is the purchase of a new refrigerator.
I was all excited to buy a GE fridge because I’m trying to buy American as often as I possibly can (silly me to think that anything is made in this country anymore!), but alas our fridge was made in Korea. Gotta love it.
We looked into several brands and models and ultimately...
