Oh, Martha, you’ve done it again.
As promised, I made the Soft Chocolate Cake with Orange Creme Anglaise and it rocked.
Lots of steps, though easy steps, but it certainly makes for a lot of dishes. This was divine to say the least. Ben rated it an 8 out of 10. I’d give it a 9. Simple, decadent, and a perfect recipe for a small dinner party where you really want to impress...
Woke up this morning to this:
Epic fail.
The Country Living Fair in Austin (none in NY this year…booooo!). I must go. I’ve been lusting and drooling over the photos from past years fairs scattered all over the country and I would kill to attend one. Have you ever attended? Is it worth the time and the crowds?
Such a lazy, lazy day. I started going a bit stir-crazy this afternoon, but quickly reminded myself to take a deep breath (yoga classes are helping me to understand the importance of stopping to take a deep breath, being mindful to breathe deeply, and focusing on my breathing throughout the day) and just enjoy the peacefulness of the day. So, I opted to ignore the pile of dishes in the sink...
Back by demand, my pear bags have returned!
I’ve just listed seven of my pear bags (a customer favorite) in my Etsy shop.
I adore these bags and love to carry them when I’m out and about and need my hands free.
$12 per bag, and please contact me before purchasing if you’re a local reader and want to skip the shipping costs.
Please let me know if you have any...
The only thing worse than not having an Ikea store within a reasonable driving distance to your house is waiting for someone from Craigslist, who happens to be selling the table you want (brand new!) for close to half price, to get back to you about whether or not it’s still available. Yeesh.
I have this ongoing list of dream ideas and schemes that I keep filed away in the back of my brain for the day when we somehow get rich and I can live them out.
Lately, all of these dream ideas seem to involve food of some sort, selling on a rather small scale (at the farmers’ market, for example), but putting a smile on my customers’ faces in the process. This is a high priority...
R.I.P. Etta.
The world won’t be the same without you.
The Paperwhites are blooming!
The Paperwhites are blooming!
I woke up this morning to a little surprise that must have happened overnight. I’ve been watching these things like a hawk because I’ve been anticipating the first blooms for days and days. So exciting.
And just to give you an idea of the giganticness of the amaryllis (that’s it in the front):
And one more...
So I did it. My hair is gone and the only thing I could think of while it was being cut was the scene from Rosemary’s Baby where Mia Farrow shows her husband her new haircut. It goes something like this:
Guy: [about Rosemary’s haircut] What the hell is that?
Rosemary: I’ve been to Vidal Sassoon.
Guy: You mean you actually paid for it?
Heh.
Pictures tomorrow because...
Here we go again.
It’s the inevitable should I or shouldn’t I chop my hair off (again) dilemma.
I’ve had short hair before…REAL short. I loved it then, and looking at pictures from that time makes me realize that I still love it. But I’m afraid. And this fear is a first for me because never before in my 35 years of existence on this planet have I ever...
The number of house plants here has gone up in the last couple of weeks. I feel the need to surround myself with green, living things these days. Ben offered to take me to Faddegon’s to buy some more plants today but I politely declined because with every inch of window space I have here, there are at least two too many plants soaking up the sunlight. I’m running out of room....
Hey look! It’s January!
Where oh where does the time go? The holiday season came and went so quickly and I feel as though I’m having a hard time getting back on my feet. This time of year brings such a sense of anxiety for me and I tend to have a terrible time relaxing. I’m anxious for spring and getting my hands dirty. I’m anxious for new beginnings and trying new...
