Flea market finds!

We had nothing planned for the day, but it’s absolutely gorgeous outside and this will most likely be the last warm weekend of the year, so we hit up a local church flea market to see what we could find.  There were loads of treasures everywhere.  Here’s what I got:

1. Flatware!  It is very rare that I buy dining items in sets, and because of that I’m always short an item or two when we have dinner parties.  I’m forever on the hunt for old ladles, spreaders, serving utensils and little things like pickle forks.  I stumbled upon a box of miscellaneous table items…items the seller told me he just wanted to get rid of.  So I started making a pile.  Scored the lot for $5.  A little elbow grease and these puppies are good to go.

2.  Dental impressions.  Weird, I know.  Even the woman selling them looked at me funny when I inquired about them.  They’ll be an interesting little conversation piece on the mantel or on a shelf somewhere.  No one ever said home decor needed to be traditional.  $1 for the set.

3.  Vintage wool and leather.  There was a box of old teddy bear making supplies with various prices on them.  I’ve been looking for materials for one of the holiday ornaments I’m working on, and this is perfect.  I have to figure out how to get the smell out of the wool, but I think these are going to work out just fine.  $5 for the two bags.

That’s it!  There were loads of old crates, dishes, milk glass, bones, and various other oddities that I would have loved to take home, but I’m happy with what I picked up.  I’m gonna miss flea market season this winter.
